Writing is My Release
My thoughts take flight
with each word I write.
Freeing my pain and sorrow,
I will have a better tomorrow.
Writing is my release, giving me peace
and freeing my mind, piece by piece.
Exposing my soul, setting it free
releasing what’s left inside of me.
Comforting my heart, soul and mind
healing wounds of the invisible kind.
Just like a broken wing, my mind will mend
soaring to new heights, my life will ascend.
“Take these broken wings and learn to fly…”
“Take these broken wings and learn to fly…”
“Blackbird” sung by Sarah McLachlan (with lyrics)
“Blackbird” lyrics
(Written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon)
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for the moment to arise
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life,
You were only waiting for the moment to be free
Blackbird fly, blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night
Blackbird fly, blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Writing is unbelievably cathartic. Thanks for sharing. Keep writing Sue! When I lost my amazing Dad two years ago I began writing every day and it is now a big part of me. I have a poetry blog here on WordPress and today’s poem features a blackbird in case you have time to look? Have a relaxing weekend, Sam 🙂
